About the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought
The
Royal
Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought is an international charitable trust
based in Jordan but comprising of 70 to 100 members of the world’s top Islamic
scholars, who meet or correspond on a regular basis. It is a non-political and recognizes all
seven traditional madhhabs (or legal schools) of Islam. It was established in 1980 by the late
H.M. King Hussein of Jordan as a service to the Islamic world and to the
umma.
